Passing exams and life in Germany

Hello everyone, its been a while since i last got the chance to have a good old blog time with you. A few things have happened since the last time we spoke. On the 25th of May i offically finished all of my exams. What a relief!!!! I had six exams in total to do, most of them being repeats from the last time round. I initially thought I had no chance of passing all six of them but just a few days ago i received the results and to my shock i got them all, passed everyone. What does this mean then?…well it means i can go into my second year of university which as you can imagine im over the moon about. Next year everything counts, every mark that i get will go towards my final degree score so as happy as i am i know that i have a hell of a lot more to do.

Leaving Preston was not the easiest, i made a lot of new friends, meet a lot of new people, funny enough a lot of them were from Germany and as they were only staying for a year i will not be seeing most of them next year. One or two of them will be friends for life, i can already tell. On the 28th of May i flew back home to Germany to be with my girlfriend Juliane, and in case some of you forgot she has a blog too. It was ofcourse GREAT to see her. The last part of the year was the longest either of us have ever been apart from each other, in total two months long. Two months can be a long time when your in a room alone with nothing but dead body pictures to keep you company. We spent the first few days just relaxing, enjoying the town we live in, sitting out in the sun and having a coffee and a smoke, great life. It was a little strange to be at home, your body has stopped moving but your mind is still going at 150 mph after so many exams. The summer is good though, we get invited to nice evenings out with some friends, some football games and other fun shit.

After a few weeks chilling out we took off to enjoy a few days at a festival Juli had bought tickets for my birthday. We had expected rain the whole weekend but to our surprise we had nothing but sunshine, a little too hot though, got burned during it all. The music on the first day was good but it wasnt to be the best day. Friday was spent at the front row for Turbostaat, having to drink lots and lots of water and watching the bigger bands who ended up being not that good. I was really disappointed with the Beatsteaks, they were really really bad but it was good to see bands like NOFX and Chemcal Brothers. The Chemical Brothers put on a hell of a light show. After the first day my legs were dead, my feet were hurting soo bad and my back was like a piece of wood, so it ended before it should have. We decided that night to move from our 5* Tent to the car as it was warmer, quieter and just loads better. The next morning we decided to go to watch some of the earlier bands and ended up falling in love with one band who was playing at 12 in the morning called Die Mannequin. Their performance was brilliant, soo much energy. We got the CD and listened to it on the way home that night. Great bands followed such as Billy Talent, The Subways and others and it turned out to be the best day. We even got to meet The Subways and get some stuff signed. By that time my feet had fallen off, my neck was burned to pieces and cramp was setting in. I have finally accepted that i am not 16 anymore. I AM getting old….er. Overall the festival was great and i cant wait to go back next year, although this time better well prepared.

Since then i have been spending time on the site, spending time organising flats and money for next year, which seems to be harder this time round than last. What does the future hold?..no idea, im just enjoying my time with Juli, even though shes got her head in the books for her exams. Its good to be able to write something new down, but if i wrote every week then there wouldnt be much to write.

For now, its been nice having a chat, i hope your all safe and well.

Neil
